This year, the big skincare gift that I got was a Solawave wand. I’ve seen the videos all over TikTok and I’ve always been intrigued but never enough to buy it for myself. Luckily, the universe answered my curiosity and my little sister bought me one for Christmas.
What is a Solawave wand?
In short, the Solawave Wand is an at-home red light therapy device and facial massager designed to smooth fine lines, fade blemishes, and reduce puffiness. It’s especially helpful for under-the-skin pimples, which I get pretty often, so I can’t wait to eventually use this wand to zap them away! Another added benefit of the wand is that it helps your skincare products absorb better. Solawave claims that with consistent use, you can see visibly plumper, smoother skin within 2 weeks, along with reduced under-eye circles and a glowing complexion.
Solawave vs NuFace
Solawave and NuFace are two of the most popular microcurrent tools on the market today. Both use microcurrents—a low-level electrical current that stimulates muscles and skin cells—to promise lifted, tighter skin, reduced wrinkles, and a glowing, supple complexion.
NuFace: This device focuses on toning and sculpting the face. It delivers gentle currents beneath the skin to stimulate cell energy, acting like a workout for your facial muscles. Over time, this boosts collagen production, helping to firm and define your features.
Solawave: This wand might be better suited for concerns like acne and hyperpigmentation. Its red light therapy stimulates collagen, reduces inflammation, and accelerates scar fading. It also uses low-frequency, consistent electrical stimulation to enhance the penetration of skincare products.
While both are microcurrent tools, the Solawave is less intense than the NuFace. For that reason, I don’t feel like I have to choose sides. I can use the Solawave to target specific skincare goals, like targeting emerging pimples and hyperpigmentation, while the NuFace focuses on full-face sculpting and toning. The Solawave’s smaller size makes it ideal for precise areas like brows, under-eyes, and smile lines—places that I struggle to reach with my NuFace.
How Will I Use My Solawave?
I plan to incorporate the Solawave wand into my PM routine, while keeping my NuFace device as part of my AM routine. I’ll use the Solawave after applying toner, then follow up with the rest of my PM skincare steps.
Have any of you tried the Solawave or are curious about getting one? Let’s chat! I’ll also be documenting my experience as I go and will definitely share a two-week update since that’s the time frame Solawave suggests for visible results.
